Welcome to Hot Brands, Cool Places
We are a well-established online luxury lifestyle magazine, and Directory of Leading Lifestyle and Travel Brands, celebrating our 10th anniversary year (2006-2016).
As well as interesting news and reviews we introduce you to an eclectic mix of boutique hotels, superb restaurants, specialist shops, and inspiring places to visit.
We also love international brands, and have created a very interesting portfolio of lifestyle brands relating to all aspects of people’s lives.
We also take care not to overfill the Directory, we have grown organically selecting companies that we think are different and interesting.
We are like a stylish Sunday supplement everyday without the weight of the papers !! As well as showcasing established brands, Hot Brands, Cool Places has become a launch pad for new brands and their creators.
We are also committed to recognising the development of ethical brands; organisations working with integrity on behalf of their employees and consumers, and for the greater good.
What are Hot Brands?
Hot brands become objects of desire; we are passionate in our search for them and once found we often build long-term relationships with them. It may be because of their iconic design, or the emotional attachment that we form with them. We are passionate in our loyalty to them, we feel lost without them. They become an essential part of who we are; they are something we love to own.
What are Cool Places?
In this world there are special places where the quality of the service, the welcome we receive and the standard of what is offered surpasses our every expectation. These are not just places to visit, these become experiences, memorable, intimate, enjoyable, indulgent, engaging our senses with aromas, sounds and visions. These are our cool places, somewhere you just have to visit.
Hot brands can also be cool, just as cool places can become hot brands.
Who runs it? – Turning a passion into a business
Hot Brands, Cool Places was founded by mother and daughter team Kaye Thorne and Louise Sinclair in 2006.
How did we start?
Previous to this Kaye was a business writer and running her own consultancy, working with large organisations, helping them to develop their employer brand. Louise was running her own successful creative media business and other online retail companies.
We are both very creative and we love the flexibility and immediacy of the online environment. Setting up Hot Brands, Cool Places also coincided with the growth of many new and exciting small businesses, and we are proud to have been able to showcase many of them and see them grow over their years with us.
What is special about it?
We’ve always been fascinated by lifestyle and travel brands, and we love magazines. The opportunity to combine both and the freedom to create something new was very seductive.
Online content is very accessible, and there’s the immediacy: we’re able to update the website daily, we can promote events in the week that they are happening or we can publish a book review on the day of publication.People send us amazing images and we love the opportunity to showcase the very best in lifestyle, design and travel and to create beautiful magazines.
Luckily, other people seem to like it too.
With so much choice on the web, the feedback we often receive is that people love the fact that our site is edited. We help our visitors by presenting content in one place that we think they will find interesting and will meet their needs.
We love how you never know who’ll contact you next, or what new brand will be launched.
