Beauty, quality and luxury, even in the smallest details of our lives, have the ability to calm, reassure, uplift and inspire us. It was this belief that led me to set up Josephine Home with the aim of creating bespoke hand-finished homeware of the very highest standards.

Inevitably, these came at a price.

But my experience of working with the best craftsmen in Europe and the very finest raw materials made me yearn to be able to offer this kind of luxury to everyone.

With JH Trousseau this dream has become a reality.

What you see when you browse through our website are bed linen, throws and furniture of an exceptionally high standard; towels that seem to soak you up when you step out of the bath, linen that makes you feel drowsy just running your hand across it, and throws that’ll keep you warm and snug no matter what the weather outside.

All this for a price so affordable it’s almost too good to be true. Josephine was my grandmother. She was born at the turn of the twentieth century and lived her whole life in Brittany. I remember, as a child, that her house was the most beautiful and comfortable home I knew.

As a woman of her time, she believed that certain things had to be done in a certain way and a comfortable bedroom with beautifully laundered linen was a priority. Josephine Home, then, seemed like the perfect name for my company which continues this tradition of high standards, attention to detail, and a love of the little luxuries that make all the difference.

While Josephine Home offers bespoke solutions, for a price, with JH Trousseau our aim is to make those high standards available to budgets of varying sizes. In France, a trousseau was traditionally a specific set of presents given to the bride or the new couple by their respective families to start their life together. It implies both the best there is to offer, and the essentials for making a home.

This perfectly encapsulates what you’ll find at JH Trousseau – all the essential elements for a comfortable home: simple yet classic linen, generous and enveloping towels together with luxurious, warm throws – but made to standards as high as you’ll find almost anywhere else.

I would like to think that, if she were alive today, my grandmother would be the first to furnish her home with the wonderful products you’ll find here.

Each of our products are made in Europe; our tweed and cashmere are woven in Scotland, our bed linen and towels in Italy, Portugal and Belgium. They’re created by the very same craftsmen who make our bespoke lines for Josephine Home.
