The Stylist's Guide to NYC by Sibella CourtSynopsis: In her stunning new travel guide, interior stylist and author Sibella Court shares with us her favourite places from one of the world’s most exciting and energetic cities, New York.
Having worked in the city for 10 years as an interior stylist for leading American magazines and brands, Sibella has accumulated a wealth of invaluable insider knowledge which she is constantly asked to share with friends and strangers alike.
Now she lifts the lid on her top spots and takes the first-time visitor – or long-time resident – on a number of surprising and beguiling journeys, uncovering traditional merchants and hidden sanctuaries as well as the coolest spots in town.

Beautifully designed and featuring Sibella’s own photography, The Stylist’s Guide to NYC is structured around shopping ‘loops’ of interest throughout New York, such as ‘Jewellery & Hardware’, ‘Haberdashers & Handmade’ and ‘Furniture & Interiors’. It contains details on stores, services, galleries, markets and refuelling stops as well as city survival tips and a pull-out map of Manhattan. Comprehensive indexes arranged by zip code also make the guide simple and easy to use for those wanting to explore a particular district. An idiosyncratic travel guide celebrating the beautiful, the curious and the unexpected The Stylist’s Guide to NYC is an indispensable accessory for anyone visiting, working or living in New York.

About the author: After living and working in NYC for 10 years, Sibella Court was drawn back home to summer days by the beach in Sydney, where she has opened a haberdashery meets hardware store, The Society Inc. She has appeared on Keith Johnson’s show, Man Shops Globe, on the Sundance Channel, designs commercial interiors for the Merivale Group and contributes to InsideOut, Vogue Living and Harper’s Bazaar. Her first book is the bestseller Etcetera: Creating beautiful interiors with the things you love. She has also created a 120-palette paint range for Murobond and a hardware range exclusively for Anthropologie and The Society Inc.

This is a beautifully produced book with delightful photographs of the discoveries that Sibella makes on her journey around New York. The book is built around ‘loops of interest’, which as well as giving the detailed contact details for her favourite places, also has all the intimate descriptions of the people running the shops, what to look for and what to buy, e.g.

‘Skip through SoHo to Nolita on the diagonal and hit Prince St. You are about to enter my all-time favourite New York shop Paula Rubenstein (22) with its unexpected finds from flea markets. Greet Paula, Keith and Dan with a big hello from me, and please refrain from taking pictures without asking. Enjoy

We love this book, with its wonderful texture and feel, it is a perfect guide, it’s like exploring NYC with a best friend. Highly Recommended!

The restaurant Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester is famed for its fine French cuisine. Located within the famous Park Lane hotel, at the heart of Mayfair, the restaurant is one of London’s most elegant venues. It has recently been named Best New Restaurant by the 2009 Zagat guide and its head chef Jocelyn Herland, who trained under the multi award-winning French chef Alain Ducasse, has developed an exciting menu which consistently respects and champions current seasonal produce – many sourced from the British Isles.
