Selfridges, in partnership with Elephant Family, is proud to showcase the range of Elephant Parade miniature replicas.
Available to buy exclusively through Selfridges, over 60 designs can be purchased both in the Oxford Street store and online at Selfridges.com until the end of July.

Elephant Parade is London’s biggest ever outdoor art event with over 260 life sized baby elephants exhibited across the capital. Elephant Family, the only charity solely dedicated to ensuring the survival of the Asian elephant, has teamed up with Britain’s leading art and design luminaries to create the original artworks painted onto the elephants.

Selfridges London is one of the key destinations showcasing the life-size elephants, playing host to six of the creations from now until 30 June.
The original artworks have been created by some of the UK’s finest artists and designers offering an exciting collection of designs. Artists include the likes of Marc Quin, Alice Temperley, Chintan Upadhyay, Diane von Furstenberg , Isaac Mizrahi, John Rocha, Lulu Guinness, Nicky Haslam, Tommy Hilfiger and many more.

The miniature elephants are available in a range of sizes from 5,10,15,20cm to 35cm high and start from £6.95 to £229 each.
Selfridges London is also host to the magnificent Emerald Elephant created by bespoke jeweller Sabine Roemer in collaboration with The World Land Trust and Gemfields. Named ‘Emerald Queen’, the elephant and has been designed and decorated with emerald dust and a staggering 678 carat oval emerald that is the outstanding centrepiece of the elephants’ jewellery headpiece. The life sized work of art will be on display in the Selfridges Wonder Room from May to the end of June and will be auctioned for by Sotheby’s on 22nd June at Selfridges to raise funds for both the World Land Trust and Elephant Family.

THE WORLD POLO SERIES MAKES A TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO HURLINGHAM PARK, CENTRAL LONDON

On June 4th, 5th and 6th 2010, for only the second time in nearly a century, Hurlingham Park in London will thunder with the hooves of world-class polo players in the World Polo Series at MINT Polo in the Park. ‘DRINK PINK’ WITH EMBER INNS FOR AGAINST BREAST CANCER

Ember Inns’ pubs are being encouraging guests to swap their regular drink for a pink tipple to raise money for Against Breast Cancer, as part of their annual Drink Pink campaign.

The four week campaign, in its 5th year of support for the charity, is being fronted by entrepreneur Duncan Bannatyne and will run from 24 May – 19 June.

Ember Inns is expanding its ‘pink drink’ range and hopes to raise a record £60,000 for the charity. As always, 5p for every glass of rosé wine sold throughout the campaign will be donated to Against Breast Cancer, but guests can also choose from a selection of tantalising pink tipples including ciders, long drinks and soft drinks.

26 May 2010: Leica Akademie, the company’s London training facility, has announced a new programme of photography workshops for existing and prospective customers.

Based at 34 Bruton Place, London W1, the Leica Akademie hosts owner courses and introductory workshops, and will now be offering an extended series of workshops with experienced Leica photographers.

The Leica Akademie currently offers complimentary sessions for its range of cameras, as part of its premium service in the UK. By popular demand, the Leica Akademie will now cater for photographers who want to expand their knowledge of post-production software, black and white, film, travel and holiday photography, and photographs for publication. In addition, the Leica Akademie will run bespoke workshops, tailored specifically to meet each individual’s needs.

In 2009, The United Nations made World Oceans Day an official global holiday. PAOLO NUTINI WINS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD FOR THE ALBUM ‘SUNNY SIDE UP’
Paolo Nutini collected the Best Album Award at the 55th Ivor Novello Awards last week at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London for ‘Sunny Side Up’

Presenting the award to Paolo at the lunchtime ceremony was Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon who talked about Paolo’s current record ‘Sunny Side Up’ saying “you know a great record when it captures your attention for the duration of the record without wanting to skip through songs – and this record certainly gets your attention brilliantly!”

From the stage, clutching his award, Paolo said “this is special”.

The Ivor Novello Awards are judged by songwriters and musicians and is the pinnacle of the music award season in the UK as it really does focus on the craft of songwriting. For Paolo to be honoured in the best album category is an amazing achievement. Afterwards, Paolo said “its an honour to get an award voted for by songwriters. Happy days and thanks for the support”

Previous winners of the Best Album Award have been The Ting Tings (2009), Radiohead (2008) Arctic Monkeys (2007) and The Kaiser Chiefs (2006)

This is great news as Paolo embarks on his tour around Europe.
