Jemma Kidd has revealed her five secret make-up tips for the party season.
To celebrate the launch, top make-up artist Jemma Kidd has revealed her five secret make-up tips for the party season. Using her simple step-by-step techniques you’ll look your very best throughout Christmas. With all those invitations, your Filofax Beauty Giftbox can help you keep on top of a hectic social life and your appearance – even when you’re out on the town.
Flash those lashes
1 For fabulous lashes make sure you curl them before applying mascara, this will instantly open up the eyes. Start as close to the root as possible and curl two or three times, each time moving the curlers a few millimetres up the lashes. Finish by applying mascara to define and frame the eyes (This is one of the things not to do in the back of a bumpy cab!).
Initial eyes
2 Many women tend to opt for heavier eye make-up for an evening out, often using heavy pigments or glitter. Stray flecks of eye shadow and mascara can fall onto the face and result in smudged foundation. An easy way to avoid this is to do your eye make-up before the rest of your face, that way if anything smudges you can simply wipe off without ruining your base.
Disappearing trick
3 Choosing the wrong colour foundation is such a common mistake – usually women go for a shade that is too dark as they are trying to warm up their skin tone. It is important to colour match your foundation perfectly so that it disappears into the skin. You can then bring warmth to the skin using bronzers and blushers.
Prime pout
4 Long-wear lipsticks can be too drying – to make lipstick last longer, without this drying effect, start by using a lip primer. This will help prevent lipstick bleeding and will ensure longer-lasting hold. Use a waxy lip liner to line and fill the whole lip area and lastly press your lipstick into the lips rather than wiping casually. Check your lipstick regularly, especially if you’ve been kissing people hello at parties.
Sheer flattery
5 Instead of applying a heavy layer of foundation – opt for sheer formula foundations or tinted moisturisers. Then use concealer to disguise imperfections such as blemishes, redness or dark circles. This will give a more natural and flattering finish – especially if the party season has been taking its toll!
The Filofax Beauty Giftbox (www.filofaxgifts.co.uk) has everything you need to help you make the most of Jemma’s make-up tips.

Movember is an annual, month-long celebration of the moustache starting on 1 November, highlighting men’s health issues and specifically prostate cancer. Throughout November, the UK’s number one paid for attraction will be opening its doors to celebrate Movember participants – or Mo Bros – in a number of different ways.
For the month of November, any man growing a moustache in support of Movember who purchases a ticket on the day and quotes “Movember” will receive a free fast track upgrade to jump the queue ahead of the clean shaven public.
As a once in a lifetime experience, the London Eye will also be hosting a day of grooming capsules on November 13th in association with Wilkinson Sword. Mo Bros will have the opportunity to get their moustache groomed by specialist barbers, Murdocks, some 135m above the capital in a special hour long flight. Whilst receiving premium mo-grooming, guests will be served a complimentary Movember Mule cocktail courtesy of Finlandia vodka, topped off with a Dermalogica facial treatment.
To win a ticket for one of the exclusive London Eye grooming capsules Movember participants will be able to enter the competition via the Movember website at www.movember.com
Lastly, the London Eye will be celebrating the success of the Movember team who raise the most money this year by providing them with a bespoke beer tasting capsule. In association with the Institute of Brewers and Distillers, this one-of-a-kind capsule experience will involve an hour long flight on the London Eye and an expert tasting session for up to 20 people. For more details of the London Eye’s involvement check the London Eye website at www.londoneye.com
The London Eye is also getting its staff involved in this year’s campaign, encouraging employees to start growing a mo to raise awareness and funds for the Prostate Cancer charity. As an added incentive for staff getting involved with Movember, the London Eye employee who has raised the most cash by the 13th November will automatically be awarded a ticket for one of the luxury grooming capsules. Helen Bull, Marketing Director for the London Eye commented: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to support Movember, a totally original and very powerful campaign, and to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
We hope that these great events we’re planning in association with other Movember supporters and sponsors will really get people excited about the campaign and help raise even more money this year. We’ll certainly be doing our bit growing some Mos down at the London Eye!”
Co-Founder of Movember, Justin Coghlan, commented: “We are really proud to have the London Eye supporting us in our campaign this year. We are lucky enough to have some fantastic sponsors and supporters, but being able to offer Movember participants exclusive experiences too will be a great added incentive to get people growing those Mos.”

Movember events will be taking place in towns and cities across the UK culminating at the end of the month with official Gala ‘Parte’s’ in London, Edinburgh and Cornwall, as well as Mo Office, Mo Campus and Mo-Town parties, where Tom Selleck and Borat look-a-likes will battle it out for their chance to take the prestigious ‘Man of Movember’ title.

TEXACO BRAND SAFETY CHARACTER ‘HECTOR’ SWEETENS ROAD SAFETY MESSAGE FOR KIDSParent’s wishing to keep their children safe and visible this winter will from the last week in October be able to collect from Texaco service stations free high visibility Hector stickers. The stickers are for children to stick on school bags and clothing, to ensure they are seen by other road users.
The Texaco brand is committed to helping to educate children about road dangers. This year it is also giving away a new range of lollipops, which come in five fruit flavours and also feature road safety messages.
Keeping children safe on the roads, especially in the dark winter months, remains an important issue. Last year, 2,807 children were killed or seriously injured in road accidents and of those, 1,784 were pedestrians.*
The Texaco brand’s ongoing child road safety campaign features the adventures of Hector, a boy with a ‘particularly peculiar imagination’. Hector’s adventures on the way to and from school have been animated by triple Oscar winners, Aardman Productions, to bring road safety to life for children. Each of the stories (available to view online) explains an important road safety message through Hector’s ‘particularly peculiar imagination’, featuring talking telepathic cycle helmets and even a cross, cross-eyed zebra.
In addition to the stickers and lollipops, free Hector road safety-themed lesson plans, developed for schools last year, have been released once again. The lesson plans are designed for Year 4, Key Stage 2 and will be available to download from www.hectorshome.com. A tour of 20 primary schools in England and Wales will also take place in November, where children will be able to experience Hector and his road safety messages first hand. The children will leave their lesson with a road safety goody bag, which will include a ‘Ghostly Gown’, a DVD copy of the Hector road safety cartoons, a story book, as well as high visibility stickers and lollipops. The schools tour, which takes place from 16-27 November is timed around National Road Safety Week (23-29 November).
Hector’s website (www.hectorshome.com) focuses on Hector's own school - St Oddballs. The website has three sections, for children, parents and teachers. For teachers, the site will house lesson plans, information on how to use them and details about why Hector is visiting schools this year. For the parents, it's a chance to pick up tips on how to help their children to remain safe on the roads this winter and also understand the lesson plans that have been developed for teachers to use. Kids can watch the super-duper Hector animations and check out his short films and games.
Texaco is a Chevron company brand. Chevron Corporation is one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies, with subsidiaries that conduct business worldwide. More information about Chevron is available at www.chevron.com.

Musical Performances
Every Thursday and Saturday from 12th November, Covent Garden Market Building will be filled with the uplifting sound of some of London’s most talented choirs. There will also be the usual classical performers adding to the Christmas ambience in the Market Building.
A Very Merry Christmas for the Kids

In the North Hall, stirring up imaginations and magical journeys will be professional story tellers, enchanting kids and adults alike with their candlelit tales of festive adventure.
Christmas Decorations
Covent Garden’s Christmas decorations will evoke feelings of Christmas joy and nostalgia. The Market Building will be full of beautifully crafted shapes hanging from the ceiling, intertwined with the installation by UVA. In addition to a 40ft tree, visitors will be dwarfed by a 32ft giant topiary reindeer greeting visitors who arrive to the Piazza via James Street, and 10ft topiary candy canes adorning the inside of the Market Building.
Christmas Deliciousness and The Covent Garden Real Food Market
From roasted chestnuts, to warm mulled wine to freshly baked gingerbread men on the Piazza, there will be lots of delicious treats to indulge in this Christmas. WESTERN AUSTRALIA’S SOUTH WEST NAMED IN TOP 10 REGIONS IN THE WORLD
Western Australia’s South-West has been named as one of the world’s most desirable holiday destinations.
Lonely Planet has chosen the South-West as one of the world’s top 10 regions to visit in 2010, in its prestigious ‘Best in Travel’ publication. It is the only Australian region on the list.
Australia’s south west has the best nature can offer – tall timber forest, miles of pristine coastline with some of the world’s best beaches and surf breaks and Australia’s only biodiversity hotspot with rare flora and fauna found nowhere else in the world.
It is now even more accessible from Perth thanks to a new by-pass, which shaves 30 minutes from the drive south. Bunbury is now only 90 minutes from Perth and Margaret River is an easy three hour journey.
Australia’s South West Chief Executive Sascha Papalia, said she was thrilled the region has now been internationally recognised.
“It’s excellent that Lonely Planet has recognised the whole of the South West region as significant – from Harvey to Albany, and from Bunbury to Margaret River,” she said.
“The region is a perfect blend of natural experiences such as beautiful beaches and tall timber forests combined with world class food, wine and boutique accommodation.”
Lonely Planet describes the region as offering “….variety in spades”, where “… the great outdoors rules, with wine, water, woodlands and walks defining the region.”
Among the book’s recommendations of things to see and do in Australia’s South West are walking at sunrise on the Bibbulmun Track, canoeing under the forest canopy at Nannup, swimming with the dolphins at Bunbury, sampling local produce and climbing Pemberton’s magnificent trees.
To watch Lonely Planet’s four minute video guide to the southwest click here
To celebrate Lonely Planet’s announcement, Flight Centre is offering a special seven night gourmet getaway to the south west from £1,159.
This includes return flights from Heathrow with Cathay Pacific, two nights in Perth, two nights at the 5* Quay West Resort, Bunker Bay in Margaret River, a night at the 3.5* Karri Valley Resort, Karri Valley and two nights at the 4* All Seasons, Albany. The package also includes eight days car hire and a Cellar Door Pass for discounts and tastings at a number of Margaret River’s 120 cellar doors.
The offer is based on two people sharing and is valid from 1 May until 11 June 2010, subject to availability. Book by 30 November on 0800 587 0058.

ENJOY THE FINEST SAUSAGES IN LONDON THIS SAUSAGE WEEK AT THE COACH AND HORSES, CLERKENWELL
Not content with producing “the best Scotch Eggs in London”, Head Chef Henry Herbert has turned his hand to making his own sausages, frankfurters and English charcuterie. Henry, the 22 year old rising star, prepares everything from British Lop Pork sausages and ale-cured ham to duck prosciutto and fennel salami, which hang in the cool of the Coach’s beer cellars.
To celebrate British Sausage Week, November 2nd – 8th 2009, The Coach and Horses are serving their home-made sausage rolls from Tuesday 3rd for just £2, or £5 with a pint of Adnams, Carlsberg or Strongbow.
A classic old London pub, The Coach and Horses offers interesting wines, carefully kept cask ales and a daily-changing menu of modern British dishes including a bar menu of home-made pub stalwarts such as pork pies, Scotch eggs and a selection of fresh breads. Henry, a fifth generation baker, consistently sources the finest and freshest ingredients. As well as his range of English charcuterie, he bakes all the bread right down to the hamburger buns, pickles the pickles and makes all jams and chutneys from scratch. He has not yet learned how to lay eggs.
