CALLING FAST DESIGNERS - FABULOUS COMPETITION
Performance tyre manufacturer, Dunlop are challenging British amateur designers to come up with a new look for its next 24 Hours Le Mans racing car. Last year, Dunlop sponsored the Ferrari F430 GT which won the Le Mans Series GT2 Championship for the second year running, both times wearing a distinctive yellow Dunlop livery.
This year the Ferrari will be back on the track, and beginning with the Le Mans 24 Hour race in June, it will be wearing the stunning new design created, hopefully by a talented British designer.
The car will also be showcased in the Dunlop Drivers Club area at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed in the summer.
The Dunlop Art Car Competition is being held across Europe in Germany, France, Spain, Portugal and the UK in three stages. It is being judged by an expert panel and the public, who will be able to vote online for their favourite design.
James Bailey, Communications manager of Dunlop Motorsport said; “Last year at Le Mans, the yellow Ferrari became known as the ‘Dunlop car’ and with wins in two successive years, it has become an icon. This year we’re giving the car a brand new look and we will be working hard with JMW Motorsport, the team who run the car to make sure the Ferrari in its new livery is a winner and that the new look becomes an icon too.”
“There is a pan-European semi-final where the livery designs will be put to the test by the public and the expert panel. In the last stage, four finalists will be invited to the 24hrs Le Mans race as guests of Dunlop to see the car unveiled in its brand new winning livery in front of the world’s motor racing press.”
“The Dunlop Ferrari which by then, we hope, will have a 3rd Le Mans win to its credit, will take pride of place on the Dunlop stage at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July along with a display of the top competition entries from the UK. Personally, I’m hoping that it’s a UK design on the car!”
Competition details can be found online at www.driversknow.co.uk along with templates for designers to work on.

CUTTING-EDGE ELECTRIC BIKE TAKING TRANSPORT IN A WHOLE NEW DIRECTION
Ultra Motor, one of the world’s leading developers of Light Electric Vehicles, has just launched its cutting-edge A2B electric bike range for the first time in the UK. Fresh from its successful launch in the US last year, the A2B, with its cool contemporary design and innovative engineering, offers people a great alternative way of getting round the city (or the countryside!). What's more you can arrive at your destination without so much as a bead of sweat - as the A2B Metro comes with power on demand - no pedalling required (unless you want to). With Gordon Brown recently announcing new measures to promote electric transport, and country-wide initiatives pushing cycling, electric bikes are hot!
Speeds up to max 15 mph on the road and 20mph off road -the battery lasts an average of 20miles and costs just 7p to recharge. So once you have made your initial investment that is it. Compare this with the cost of petrol, parking etc - or a year Travel card on the London tube - you can recover your investment within a reasonable time scale ...AND the bike is FUN to ride!!!!
