Van Cleef & Arpels introduces Magic Alhambra Pavé DiamondsThe Alhambra collection, a Van Cleef & Arpels icon, meets the diamond in a dazzling tribute: Magic Alhambra Pavé Diamonds. Eight pieces, in white gold, make up this collection, never before seen. The generous pave setting pays homage to the most exacting standards of the Maison: those of High Jewellery.

Since 1968, the iconic Alhambra collection has become the lucky charm of those who wear it and those who offer the jewels as gifts. Van Cleef & Arpels now launches an even more dazzling opportunity for happiness. The Magic Alhambra Pavé Diamonds collection highlights its symbols of good luck, health, prosperity and true love. What’s the secret? An exclusive pavé setting of exquisite diamonds, all rigorously selected, set in white gold.

Luck that is both exclusive and limitless Luck with a High Jewellery signature
Each version of the lucky four-leaf clover varies in size; all are adorned with diamonds of remarkable quality. This radiant asymmetry is designed to enhance a woman’s grace and elegance.

Play with the setting to catch the light
For the Magic Alhambra pavé diamonds, the Mains d’Or at Van Cleef & Arpels, have adapted a traditional technique used in High Jewellery. These outstanding craftsmen have created a unique stone-setting architecture designed to minimize the precious metal. Sparkling on the front and subtle on the back, the honeycomb setting enhances the diamond’s inner light. The white gold surround accentuates their clarity. The diamonds, cleverly positioned, seem to vibrate in the light.
The shine is tantalizing, alive and mysterious.

Eight jewels, eight reasons to glow
The famous golden perlée contours of the clover adorn eight new jewels. The long necklace or sautoir in white gold features sixteen stylized clover motifs, each varying in size. The charms that dangle happily from the earrings (in a single or triple motif version) are asymmetrical and enhance the graceful line of the neck. A necklace and a bracelet, woven from the finest of white gold chains, dance in the light. Two rings, one single and the other “between–the-fingers”, irresistibly attracts the eye to the hand. A pendant radiantly celebrates the exquisite diamond setting.
The Magic Alhambra Pavé Diamond collection is the alliance of happy-go-lucky charm and the savoir-faire of Van Cleef & Arpels.

Each of its jewels can be worn with the other collections of Alhambra or of Perlée: these multiple combinations will be an ode to the whimsy and imagination of women.
Wear a Magic Alhambra jewel... and luck becomes even more desirable.
Thanks to the exclusive setting technique and the generous pavé effect, the playful asymmetry accentuates the variations of light, enhances the sparkle of diamonds and makes a woman’s beauty shine even stronger.

This alliance of jewellery expertise and radiant creativity gives Van Cleef & Arpels the opportunity to offer a new and spectacular take on a timeless icon.

Magic Alhambra Pavé Diamonds offers 8 sumptuous variations of the charmed Alhambra motif.
1 long necklace with 16 motifs 1 charms necklace 1 pendant necklace 1 bracelet
1 pair of earrings with 3 motifs 1 pair of earrings with 1 motif 1 between-the-fingers ring 1 single motif ring

HASTINGS DIRECT SUPPORTS THINK BIKE SAFETY CAMPAIGN

From today (July 1st), motorbike insurance broker Hastings Direct will be supporting bike safety working in conjunction with the Shiny Side Up Partnership’s Think Bike safety campaign donating £2 for every policy sold.

Hastings Direct is one of the fastest growing suppliers of bike insurance in the UK. This exclusive new partnership will enable Shiny Side Up to receive donations for each motorbike policy sold whether directly from Hastings web site – www.hastingsdirect.com or by calling the company on 0800 11 1066, or via a price comparison site.

Established in 2002, Shiny Side Up is a partnership between professionals from road safety, accident investigation and police traffic management teams. In recent years the partnership has also benefited enormously from the support of the Highways Agency.
The name Shiny Side Up was chosen to reflect the bikers’ expression “Keep your shiny side up” - implying that the rubber side should stay firmly on the road! Its Think Bike and other safety signs indicate a route which has claimed riders’ lives, or left them seriously injured.
To further support the visibility of bike safety, Hastings Direct will also include a Think Bike window sticker for use in the home or car to every policyholder purchasing its insurance.

Dec Fisher, head of bike, Hastings Direct: “More than one rider dies every day* in Britain and over 5,500 are seriously injured. We are proud to support bike safety and help raise awareness of motorcyclists to all road users.”

Sheila Ormerod, campaign organiser, Shiny Side Up Partnership: “The members of the Shiny Side Up Partnership welcome the support of Hastings Direct in helping to reinforce motorcycle safety campaign messages. The campaign has had proven benefits in casualty reduction on the routes that carry the safety information signs and Hastings Direct contributions will be invaluable in further promoting these messages and saving lives.”

For more information or to get a bike insurance quote, please call Hastings Bike team on 0800 11 1066.

THELMA & LOUISE OFFERS TOP TIPS FOR FEMALE TRAVELLERS
As the famous female buddy movie celebrates its 20th anniversary, women’s online travel community of the same name offers top travel tips for girl gappers

2011 marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic gal-pal, road-trip movie, “Thelma & Louise” and for many young women now is the time to start preparing for a travel adventure of their own – minus the film’s sticky ending, of course!

As thousands jet off on their pre or post-university gap years - or summer “mini-gaps,” for those heading straight to university in the autumn to avoid the dreaded tuition fees hike - Thelma & Louise http://www.thelmandlouise.com, the women’s online travel community inspired by that very movie, is offering top tips for girl gappers.

1. Challenge yourself - Do something which is alien to you and get out of your comfort zone. Doing what you are used to is more of the same. Even going on the underground in a foreign city is an eye opener. Be open to doing what the locals do. If they look as though they are enjoying it, there must be a reason!
2. Pack strategically – Only pack what you know you will use, rather than carting around a whole load of clothes that will never see the light of day and remember that unless you are heading off into the wilderness you will be able to buy and replenish essential items along the way. It’s often cheaper to buy these items oversees than it would have been at home and picking up a few special souvenirs on your travels is all part of the experience. Carry a lightweight pashmina or shawl to cover up in countries where this may be required, especially for entering religious buildings or shrines. Also, take a small magnifying mirror with sucker pads on the back which you can attach to any surface (even if it is the underside of the bunk above!) and a head-torch so that you can put your make up on in the dark!
3. Be prepared for some quiet time - Always have a good book with you and a notebook to write down thoughts and impressions. It’s amazing how stimulating to the imagination a new environment can be. Just forget being in a rush and observe.
4. Get a little help from your friends – in both the planning stages of your trip and during your travels, make sure you tap into the best resource you have available to you – your friends! Take advice from friends and family who have visited the countries you are going to and use social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook to get instant tips and recommendations on where to eat, what to see, what to avoid and great places to stay, as you arrive at your destination. You can also use www.thelmandlouise.com to post a trip idea, question or topic in the forum and receive advice and tips from a whole community of women travellers!
5. Meet up with a local female – Whether you are travelling with a couple of girlfriends or as a lone female it’s a good idea to locate other women in the destination you are visiting to sight-see with or simply grab a coffee/drink/dinner with. You can tap into her local, insider knowledge of which dodgy parts of town to avoid and where’s fun to go out. You can use www.thelmandlouise.com to find members all over the world.
6. Find a travel buddy – If your friends just don’t have the same travel ambitions as you and you don’t fancy travelling solo, look for a travel buddy online to share the adventure with. www.thelmandlouise.com connects like-minded women but we always recommend that you meet up with your prospective travel companion before you plan a trip together – not just for safety but to ensure you get on. Even if you are happy to travel alone for the most part, it could be fun to find someone to share part of your journey with, so consider looking for a buddy for certain aspects of your adventure that you might not want to do alone.
7. Book a tour – Independent travel is liberating but consider booking certain legs of your journey as part of an organised tour, particularly if it’s an adventurous experience such as Gorilla trekking in Rwanda or hiking the Inca Trail. Using a travel company such as The Adventure Company http://www.adventurecompany.co.uk is a great way for you and your friends to mix with other backpackers and travellers for short bursts within a wider, independent trip. Alternatively, if you only have a couple of months to do your travelling it might be worth booking with a travel company for the whole trip to maximise your time away.
8. Make an effort to talk to the people you meet - If they don’t respond, it doesn’t matter as you may never meet them again, and if they do, it’s a bonus.
9. Hire a personal GPS - If you are heading off the beaten track, hire a personal GPS tracking device (www.traakit.co.uk ; from £60 per month) that regularly pings back your co-ordinates by email and SMS to a nominated friend or family member. It must have an SOS alert button too.
10.Sign up to Skype – stay connected to friends and family at home as well as pals you meet along the way with Skype . You can make free video calls, cheap phone calls to landlines and mobiles and communicate using instant messaging.

PHILIPPE FRANCQ COLLABORATES WITH GIORGIO ARMANI FOR ARMANI CODE SPORT
Giorgio Armani is pleased to announce the launch of the new Armani Code Sport fragrance, using acclaimed cartoonist Philippe Francq’s stunning interpretations of what the advertising does not tell: what happens between the Armani Code encounter of the 2 characters at night in a LA party and the mysterious pool scene of Armani Code Sport (www.armanicode.com)

The Fragrance - a top note trio of mints; wild mint, peppermint and spearmint, create an unexpected, explosive bouquet of incredible freshness. Sicilian mandarin and citrus lemon add an Italian breeze to this cosmopolitan fragrance. The heart of the fragrance reveals the seductive power of Code Sport. With the highest concentration ever used in perfumery, ambrox, the absolute olfactive translation of physical desire, is heated to the burning point with a blend of vetiver and ginger, the alliance of sophistication and sensuality. Like a crisp coating of ice, Hivernal underlines these contrasts and prolongs the dialogue between icy crispness and sensual breath, giving the fragrance an almost unlimited life.

The Technology- New techniques of molecular distillation and extraction by CO2, allow a better isolation of the scented molecules to give better quality and freshness. Perfumer Jacques Cavallier explains,

“This fragrance is a concentrate of pure tension, like an explosion of citric and icy freshness on a base of vibrant wood and sensual amber.”

Designed to provoke nostalgic memories of childhood fun and to encourage visitors out into areas not always visited, the swings are dotted around the grounds and gardens of four Trust locations in South Somerset. Most of the individual swings have a particular theme, and have been inspired by stories from the houses, gardens and surrounding area.

"We all have those memories of Summer days spent playing on creaky swings surrounded by the smell of grass," said Richard Higgs, National Trust General Manager for South Somerset. "We wanted to let our visitors relive those memories, perhaps in a little more relaxing way, with a very varied choice of swings and seats dotted around our sites, just waiting to be discovered, tried and enjoyed."

The highlights are two large copper swings fashioned as oak leaves created by designer Stephen Myburgh who is known for his unique garden furniture which is both functional and sympathetic to the environment."Stephen's garden swings have a sculpture like quality to them, and are inspired by some of the most beautiful places in our gardens. We hope they will give visitors an unusual place to sit and enjoy the views across Montacute and Barrington," Richard continued.

Other designs include one created by volunteers at Montacute House, inspired by the burning basket, the emblem of the Phelips family who previously lived there, and Tranquility, a three seater swing with a fanned back at Tintinhull Garden.

"We're well known for these inspiring and intriguing houses but many of our visitors don't venture out to discover that the gardens and grounds can give just as much enjoyment, out in the fresh air. By seeking out these swings dotted around the landscape, we hope they will find new places of interest, as well as a new way of having fun," Richard concluded.

The fourteen swings are scattered around the grounds of Barrington Court, Lytes Cary Manor, Montacute House and Tintinhull Garden. For safety, the trees from which the swings are hung have all been rigorously inspected and each swing will be checked daily by National Trust staff.
