Judy Beard, Breast Cancer Care’s Director of Fundraising said
‘There are over 6000 people across Hackney, Waltham Forest and Newham living with a diagnosis of breast cancer. We want to be there for each and every person and their friends and families too. That’s why we are so grateful for the support of Westfield Stratford City and all the participating retailers. Without them we simply couldn’t continue to provide our free services. Thank you.

NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY: HOW HARD CAN IT BE?
To celebrate the launch of the 2011 Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition, the Natural History Museum presents two very special photography events.
Friday 28 October
Wildlife Photography: Picture Perfect?
Good wildlife photographs can move, inspire and educate us about the fragility and magnificence of the natural world. But they can also be misleading.
World-class photographers Heather Angel, Chris O’Reilly and Paul Hobson will be discussing the tricks and the truths of wildlife photography in a modern age. What does it take to get the ultimate shot? Is it acceptable to train a tame animal to re-enact a wild behaviour? Is it OK to lure wild animals closer with bait? And as retouching technology becomes more and more sophisticated, does it really matter – and can we tell – if photos are adjusted and altered in post-production?
Join us and have your say on the issues that matter for the next generation of wildlife photographers.
Venue: The Restaurant
Time: 19.00 (doors open 18.30)
Tickets: £10 (£9 Members)
Saturday 29 October

CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING AT WOLFGANG PUCK’S restaurant ‘cut at 45 park lane’
This September, world-renowned chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck made his restaurant debut in Europe with the opening of CUT at 45 Park Lane. Located in Dorchester Collection’s new Mayfair hotel, CUT at 45 Park Lane mirrors the award-winning and hugely popular original CUT in Beverly Hills offering outstanding steaks, a superb wine list and impeccable service, in a fun, buzzing and dynamic environment. On November 24th guests at the restaurant will be able to celebrate Thanksgiving in style with a special menu (£85 per person) devised by Californian born Executive Chef David McIntyre.
Having worked for Puck for more than 13 years, McIntyre was heavily involved in the opening of CUT Beverly Hills in June 2006, and relocated to London with his family in January 2011 to take up the exciting challenge of heading up CUT at 45 Park Lane.
The menu offers Puck’s take on the traditional Thanksgiving feast with roasted turkey, natural gravy, cornbread stuffing, braised greens and cranberry compote and a wide selection of side dishes to share including: roasted celery root, butternut squash, Medjool dates and roasted baby Brussels sprouts, smoked bacon and pearl onions.
Since its launch, CUT at 45 Park Lane has fast become known for its contemporary interpretations of the classic steak restaurant. It features the widest and best selection of beef available in London, as well as hand-selected prime dry- and wet-aged beef from all over the world. The signature cuts of beef are grilled over hard-wood and charcoal and then finished under a 1200° broiler to impart a truly unique flavour and texture. This Thanksgiving is no exception with three different cuts to choose from.
For those wanting a lighter alternative to the traditional Thanksgiving feast, Puck’s own favourite of sautéed Dover sole “à la Meunière” with preserved lemon, capers, raisins, almonds and caramelised cauliflower will also available.
In the starters section guests can choose between a selection of four dishes including: butternut squash soup, cranberry-quince compote and Heirloom apple salad, fuyu persimmon, fennel, red endive, Medjool dates, Shropshire cheddar.
For pudding, pastry chef Melissa Zahnter (from CUT, Las Vegas which opened in March 2008) has devised a choice of puddings with a contemporary twist on traditional American favourites: Bourbon pecan pie, maple ice cream, caramelised pears or apple stuffed pumpkin doughnuts, spiced whipped cream, pumpkin gelato.
Another of Puck’s team to leave the US and set up home in the UK is Sommelier Vanessa Cinti (previously of Spago in Bachelor Gulch, Colorado), who oversees the carefully selected international wine list. Fittingly, there is an emphasis on American wine, so guests can enjoy the full American Thanksgiving experience and taste some of the country’s finest producers such as Mondavi and Grgich Hills in the Napa Valley.
