The Thurlestone Hotel has been owned and run by the Grose family since 1896. Margaret Amelia Grose first opened the hotel to accommodate golfers visiting the area and now her great, great grandson, Matthew Grose is the Managing Director and the fifth generation of this family dynasty.
Situated in the picturesque village of Thurlestone, the hotel has stunning panoramic views out over the Devon coastline and across the bay to Thurlestone Rock. It is within walking distance of the South West Coastal Path and a selection of sandy beaches that are ideal for swimming, exploring rock pools and building sandcastles – the hotel will even supply the bucket and spade!
Thurlestone has grown year on year and is now a 65 bedroom, four star luxury hotel with extensive facilities set in 19 acres of landscaped gardens. As well as relaxing in the Voyage Spa, with its hydrotherapy pool, laconium and steam room, guests can book some serious pampering in the Decleor beauty rooms. Book prior to arrival and receive a 10% discount on your treatment. The full treatment list is available to view online https://www.thurlestone.co.uk/spa-hotel-devon. If you struggle to sit still there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. Try your hand at the par 3 golf course; work up a sweat playing squash, badminton and tennis, or cool off in the outdoor heated swimming pool (open from May to September).
The hotel is superbly family friendly: there are two children’s playrooms which feature an array of activities suitable for both teens and toddlers, including games consoles, a large screen for movie nights and an assortment of toys and board games. In the school holidays there is further organised entertainment for children at Big T’s Surf Club which is free of charge and includes magicians, movies & popcorn, mocktail making and much more. There is something for all the family at Thurlestone, including the dog…
At the end of a busy day guests are assured of a restorative night’s sleep in the hotel bedrooms which effortlessly combine luxury and convenience. All rooms have top quality Vi-spring mattresses, tea and coffee making facilities, mini-bar and Templespa goodies in the bathroom. You can choose from a selection of room types, many of which have balconies allowing guests to enjoy the rugged beauty of the South Hams and many rooms can accommodate families.
